Interested in becoming an Ambassador for Dining Out For Life? Here are just a couple things you need to know... Dining Out for Life (DOFL) was created in 1991 by the ActionAIDS organization and in 1993 was made into an international event for AIDS Service Organizations around the country. This is the 6th year for ACCESS AIDS Care's Dining Out For Life event and, as always, all funds raised during this one-day event will go directly to supporting the programs of ACCESS AIDS Care and the residents in your community impacted by HIV/AIDS.
"That sounds great. How can I help?" Since our "Dining Out For Life" event has 70 restaurants each year, we need an ACCESS AIDS Care representative at each place. Someone that is comfortable serving as an "ambassador" on behalf of ACCESS AIDS Care and informing the diners about the event and gathering donations to support the programs, services and mission of ACCESS AIDS Care.
"What specifically does a DOFL Ambassador have to do?" The Dining Out For Life Restaurant Ambassador will:
- Commit to helping fill the restaurant by inviting friends, family, and co-workers to join in on the event. (This part is very important! In order to fulfill our commitment to the restaurant, it is important that each ambassador invite as many people to their restaurant as possible. That way, the restaurant is happy, the donation to ACCESS AIDS Care is bigger, and the ambassador has that much more fun because they know everyone in the restaurant.)
- Spread the word and invite the community to participate and dine at any of the participating restaurants.
- Arrive at 5:00 pm the day of the event for introductions and set-up. Allow time to meet with the service staff and discuss your role and how they can help facilitate the evening.
- Greet DOFL diners and explain the event, raffle, and encourage them to donate.
- Join the DOFL Ambassadors at the after-party to deliver your donations and share in the success of the evening.
