VOL-UN-TEER [vol-uhn-teer]: noun. An individual who works for a community or for the benefit of another primarily because they choose to do so and without motivation. Volunteers make a conscious choice to act for the greater good and fulfill their commitment to creating a better community. At ACCESS AIDS Care, we just call them Super Heroes.

There are so many ways to get involved with ACCESS AIDS Care from being on our Board of Directors to taking part in our children’s Fun Club to preparing meals for our Meals Program. Not to mention our seasonal and special event volunteer opportunities. Just as any where else, our needs vary throughout the year, so for the most current volunteer opportunities please contact our Volunteer Coordinator at (757) 640-0929.

While volunteering is a great way to expand your horizons, boost your resume and broaden your skill set, volunteers are extremely valuable to so many non-profit and community organizations. ACCESS AIDS Care had over 12,000 volunteer hours in 2008 - that's a savings of over $230,000 in administrative and program support just from volunteers. Now that's time well spent!
