2012 Dining Out for Life

DOFLheader

Dining Out For Life, an International event held in more than 65 cities across the United States and Canada, is taking place this year on Thursday, April 26th. This is the 9th Annual Dining Out For Life in Hampton Roads and almost 75 restaurants are participating this year, many of which are in Ghent.

Over the past nine years, more than 175 restaurants have joined ACCESS AIDS Care in this event. Last year’s event was a huge success and raised close to $80,000. The funds raised go towards providing services to more than 500 individuals living with HIV/AIDS in Hampton Roads.  One hundred percent of the proceeds from the event are used to provide medical case management, meals, housing, transportation and children’s services for our clients, as well as prevention, education and free testing for the Hampton Roads community.

In exchange for our local restaurants’ donations to ACCESS AIDS Care, we promote area restaurants and recruit volunteers who act as an “ambassador” for each restaurant and invite their friends to Dine Out at a participating restaurant. Filling each restaurant with diners on the night of the event helps to raise more money for HIV/AIDS services at ACCESS AIDS care and also helps to promote our local restaurants.

How can you help? Make a reservation at any participating restaurant and order big! Just by dining out for one night, you are supporting locally owned restaurants and giving back to people in the community in need. You are joining in the fight against HIV/AIDS. You can order dessert guilt-free!
