Support Groups

LGBT Center Support Groups

The LGBT Center of Hampton Roads aims to offer affirming environments to help LGBT people reduce isolation and stigma by learning healthy relationship skills, get support coming out, explore their sexual orientation and gender identity, and connect with others who share similar concerns in a safe and affirming environment. Please visit our calendar to see the dates and times these groups are held. All groups are free to attend! 
Support Groups: 
Gender Expression Movement, (GEM) provides advocacy, resources, education & support for the Transgender Community, in a relaxed, all-inclusive atmosphere. 
Significant Others, Family, Friends, and Allies (of persons transitioning) (SOFFA) is a support group for individuals that are adjusting to and assisting with someone in their lives that is transitioning.
Trans Masculine is a support group for individuals that are transitioning from female to male. 
Bisexual Support Group is for those who identify as bisexual. 
Gender Non-Conforming/Queer Support Group is a group is for any individual that identifies as non-conforming to “traditional” identities.
Gay Men’s Group provides support to gay men. 
Women’s Support Group provides support to lesbian women. 
Youth OUT United provides support and activities for LGBT youth who are 10-17 years old. The group partners with two openly out Norfolk Police Officers, who help facilitate the group with Mary Aab, The director of the LGBT Center. This group allows the youth to seek support, socialize and participate in activities!
PFLAG’s mission is to promote the health and well-being of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender persons, their families and friends through: support, education and advocacy.
